Los Cabos Sunset Whale Watching Cruise with Open Bar.

Overview

This is a seasonal whale watching trip that runs only from early February through March 31, on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, timed so the boat is on the water as the sun goes down. The whale watching cruise itself lasts about 2 hours dock to dock, with the whole experience, transportation included, running approximately 3.5 hours. Departure is at 17:00 from the marina in Cabo San Lucas, though the operator notes the start time may shift with the season to catch the best sunset.

On board, a certified captain and crew run the boat while you watch for whales off the coast. Sightings are never promised, since whales are wild animals, but recent travellers reported multiple breaches and a beautiful sunset on their trips. Between whale stops, the full open bar pours beer, tequila, mezcal, spirits, sodas and juices, and snacks include mini baguettes with ham, turkey or a vegetarian filling plus a fresh seasonal fruit salad.

Hotel transportation is not included in the base price, but roundtrip pickup from selected hotels in Cabo San Lucas, San Jose del Cabo and the Tourist Corridor can be added at booking, roughly 45 minutes before departure. Without it, you check in at Plaza Gali, Local 39, on the marina, 20 minutes before departure. The boat carries a maximum of 55 travellers. Alcohol is limited to guests 18 and over.

What To Expect From The Tour

Common issues. Whale sightings are not guaranteed, which is the biggest variable on this tour. The boat is not wheelchair accessible, and the listing does not recommend it for travellers with back problems, though foldable wheelchairs can be carried in the transportation add-on. Late arrivals and no-shows get no refund, and changes or cancellations inside 24 hours of start time are not accepted. One more caveat: if the Port Authority closes the port, you do get a full refund, but the tour otherwise runs in whatever weather shows up.

Common Questions

What is included in the price?

The base tour includes the 2-hour whale watching and sunset cruise with a certified captain and crew, the full open bar of beer, tequila, mezcal, spirits, sodas and juices, mini baguettes with ham, turkey or vegetarian fillings, and a fresh fruit salad. Gratuities are not included. Hotel transportation is also not included unless you select it as an optional add-on.

Is hotel pickup available?

Pickup is not part of the base booking, but roundtrip transportation from selected hotels in Cabo San Lucas, San Jose del Cabo and the Tourist Corridor can be added. It must be reserved at least 24 hours in advance, with your hotel name provided at booking, and pickups happen roughly 45 minutes before departure.

Where do I meet the tour?

If you do not take the transportation option, meet at the check-in desk in Plaza Gali, Blvd. Paseo de la Marina, Local 39, across from the entrance to the Hotel Sandos Finisterra, 20 minutes before departure. Cruise passengers meet at the same spot, across the marina from the tender pier. The tour ends back there.

Can children join the cruise?

Yes, most travellers can participate and infants must sit on laps. However, the open bar is limited to guests 18 and over, so younger travellers drink sodas and juices instead.

Is the tour wheelchair accessible?

No, the tour itself is not wheelchair accessible. Only foldable or collapsible wheelchairs can be accommodated in the transportation add-on. The listing also does not recommend the trip for travellers with back problems.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancel at least 24 hours before the start time for a full refund, based on local time. Cancellations or changes inside that window are not refunded or accepted, and late arrivals or no-shows get nothing back. If the Port Authority closes the port, you receive a full refund.
